Sonia Murton, Founder of Belle Interiors
After fifteen years in the highly competitive IT recruitment industry, Sonia Murton was eager to radically change her career direction and in 2000 when a close friend who specialised in Antiques suggested Sonia work with them she needed little persuading.
Her passion for the industry was immediately apparent and Sonia was soon making a name for her self as word of mouth rapidly grew; sourcing for Linda Barker and various high profile projects such as Harry Potter and companies such as The Royal Opera House. In 2003 she threw caution to the wind and moved to France with her antique expertise at the ready. Soon enough she began learning all there was to know about French Furniture, in addition to challenging herself to renovate three properties including a 16th century water mill. She opened an antique furniture business in a derelict barn offering an assortment of treasures 'an antique Aladdin's cave. She remained conscious of why she moved to France and ensured she spent time enjoying her husband children, 4 horses, 2 dogs and 15 acres of land!
Sonia realised she had finally found her passion and planed to return to the UK to open an interiors boutique. In 2007 she returned and in 2008 she opened Belle Interiors in Kent and has not looked back since. Belle Interiors has carved a niche within the industry providing exquisite furniture and accessories at highly competitive prices. The eclectic fusion of furnishings include French style reproduction, antiques and contemporary lines, a vast selection of Venetian furniture and mirrors, chandeliers and ornamentation to add that finishing touch, in addition to a personable sourcing service to ensure you find that perfect piece. With a broad understanding of the furniture industry; expertise of upholsterers, high quality craftsmen and of course interior stylists whom have showcased their expertise in both private home and developments alike, Belle Interiors offers a comprehensive service second to none. Situated in Kent, the boutique showcases an array of home candy, complete with inspirational showrooms on the second floor. The e-commerce extension operates in harmony with the boutique and with deliveries daily the choice is ever evolving. Belle Interiors is a frequent haunt for those in the know. Belle Interiors furnishings have regularly appeared on "60 Minute Make-Over" and the boutique was recently featured on ITV 1, "House Gifts".
Most recently Sonia has been appointed as the regular interiors columnist for Archant Life's, "The Guide" magazine commencing in spring 2010. Eager to build on this, Sonia endeavours to launch her own product line in the near future. She is also extending her expertise to offer a "House DR' service"; she believes merely putting your property on the market is not sufficient today to secure a successful sale and this service it can play a crucial role in making that sale happen and in good time. Highly personable and with extensive expertise it is easy to see how Sonia has found success.
